subjunctive level B1 conectors

CONECTORES DE CONJUNTIVO (concessão)

Following is a list of connectors in the present subjunctive, specifically a compilation of words referred to as concessive connectors.

Here are some considerations about the connectors on this list.

1-The name assigned to these connectors (concession) does not seem important for us to retain. What really matters, in our opinion, is knowing what words to use and how to use them.

2- The words (connectors) “embora,” “ainda que,” or “se bem que” all have the same meaning and are used to describe a fact. The connector “embora” is the one we most frequently use in casual conversations in Portuguese.

3- The connectors “por mais que” and “por muito que” can almost always be used with the same meaning.

4- The connectors “por menos que” and “por pouco que” can almost always be used with the same meaning.

PRO TIP-Despite this list being composed of words (connectors) that we use quite frequently in Portuguese, it is worth noting that, in our opinion, the most important connectors are not the ones that follow but rather the connectors you can find in List 6 – Present Subjunctive (essential connectors), as they are the ones we use daily and with greater frequency.
