Possessive pronouns are essential in any language, and they are also in the Portuguese language.
We suggest you begin by improving the usage of possessive pronouns in the first person singular. Example: o meu amigo (my friend), a minha mãe (my mother). Then move on to the other possessive pronouns. Don’t forget that when addressing someone, you can do so in an informal way (o teu gato = your cat) or a formal way (o seu gato = your cat).
PRO TIP: In European Portuguese, we usually use the definite article before the possessive pronoun. Examples: 1-O teu gato | 2-A tua amiga. In Brazilian Portuguese, the article is not used: Examples: 1-Teu gato | 2-Tua amiga. Both options (European Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese) are correct.
