REFLEXIVE VERBS IN PORTUGUESE

Reflexive verbs are a grammatical topic with some complexity. It is at level A1 that we begin to teach the use of reflexive verbs in Portuguese, but usually, Portuguese students only master this grammatical content at level B1/B2.

Reflexive verbs are used to describe actions that a person does to themselves. Example: “eu lavo-me de manhã” = “I wash myself in the morning.”

The verb we chose for this activity is the verb “PINTAR-SE” = to paint oneself.

In Portuguese, reflexive pronouns are usually used after the verb. For example: “Eu lavo-ME” = “I wash myself.”
