VOZ PASSIVA LEVEL B1 PORTUGUESE

VOZ PASSIVA DE ESTADO

The passive voice of state (voz passiva de estado) is a simple structure that we use frequently in our daily lives. The passive voice of state is used to describe the result of an action that occurred in the past (simple past).

The formation of the passive voice of state is as follows: Present tense of the verb “ESTAR” + Past Participle.

For example: a. Ele limpou a casa = He cleaned the house (active voice). b. A casa está limpa = The house is clean (result of the action) – voz passiva de estado.

PRO TIP: The main difficulty in using this structure is related to the correct use of the past participle. We remind you that in the case of a verb with a double participle, we must use the irregular participle, and it is variable (used as an adjective).

Here is a list of examples with various sentences in the passive voice of state.
