WELCOME TO LEVEL B1 IN PORTUGUESE!

Welcome to level B1 in Portuguese! We know that getting here wasn’t easy, but the truth is you’ve already made it. I have been teaching the Portuguese language for over 10 years, and the truth is that not all Portuguese language students can reach level B1! So, if you are reading this page, congratulations are already in order!

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM LEVEL B1?

The B1 level in Portuguese is very interesting! In fact, it is the teaching level that gives me the most pleasure, and I feel that students also enjoy learning at this stage. It’s the level where we delve into the subjunctive mode, and where students can, for the first time, engage in conversations comfortably with native Portuguese speakers.

Throughout level B1, Portuguese language students learn the present and future tenses of the subjunctive, two structures of some complexity. While it is true that throughout this free Portuguese course, we will teach a lot about the subjunctive and its connectors, it is also true that consolidating these structures is manifestly impossible without a good and experienced Portuguese teacher!

HOW TO PROGRESS AND LEARN FROM THIS LEVEL?

When students reach level B1, it doesn’t mean that the content from levels A1 and A2 is perfectly known and consolidated. The truth is that it’s always necessary to review and solidify past structures in order to progressively fill in the knowledge gaps. What I mean by this is that B1-level students should continue advancing in this course but should also regularly revisit the content from levels A1 and A2 (especially A2) to review and consolidate the previously learned material.
